Show news for 2025

With 2024 about to be drawn to its inevitable close, it’s time to think about what will be happening in 2025 – and, unusually, this year the dates of all the main RISC OS shows can be announced in one go!

First of all, though, there is unfortunately some bad news that needs to be shared: There will be no Southwest or Wakefield shows in 2025. In the case of the latter, the venue (chain) at which the show is usually held have insisted on a price increase that the organisers, the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club (WROCC) say they can neither afford nor justify. In the case of the Southwest event, the reason that show isn’t going ahead is because its organisers – R-Comp’s Andrew Rawnsley and Orpheus Internet’s Richard Brown – have stepped in to organise a replacement for Wakefield.

Thinking practically, the duo came to the conclusion that organising two shows – Southwest and Wakefield’s replacement – would be a little too difficult with them being so close together, so decided to do one at approximately the mid point instead. And as the point was to step in where WROCC have had to bow out, the replacement show had to take place in the North. That show is to be called…

RISC OS North

The event already has a venue booked and a date set. So grab your diaries and write it in for 29th March, 2025. The address you’ll also need is:

Village Hotel Warrington,
110 Centre Park Square,
Warrington,
WA1 1QA.

A show website is currently in the design stages – with niceties like banners etc. still on the to do list. One will appear on RISCOSitory along with the other show banners once they are made available

RISC OS eXperience

Moving over to Europe, the second event for which a date is now known is the Big Ben Club’s annual event in The Netherlands – the RISC OS eXperience.

Although the website has yet to be updated, I have been informed that the 2025 event is slated for 10th May, with (I assume) the venue remaining the same, so that’s:

wijkgebouw “De Vuister”,
Molenwerf 44,
1541 WR Koog aan de Zaan.

RISC OS London

The RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) have declared the 2024 London Show enough of a success that they’ve gone ahead and booked the venue for 2025 – so you can now add 25th October to your diaries for next year. The venue will be the same one used for the 2024 show, so that’s:

Harrow District Masonic Centre,
Northwick Circle,
Kenton,
Harrow,
HA3 0EL.
