Kevin Wells has released updates to two of his applications – MACadd (now at version 2.05), and Kclock (now at 1.02).
MACadd is a program for determining information about MAC (Media Access Control) addresses. These are codes assigned to network interfaces in order to make them uniquely identifiable. Amongst other things, these addresses allow you to reserve IP addresses on your router for certain devices, for example; you do this by telling your router to assign a particular IP address to a particular MAC address, whenever it is connected.
MAC addresses take a specific format, and certain parts of the code have certain meanings, and can therefore be looked up – and that’s what MACadd can do for you. It uses Wget to refer any MAC addresses you input to a third party site – MAC Address Lookup, and displays the information returned from the site.
The change for this version of the software is the addition of an Italian language pack, which means the software’s user interface can now operate in that language.
Kclock, on the other hand, is a simple clock and calendar application that displays the time and date in a window. The new version adds the ability to display the time on the icon bar.
If you find any of Kevin’s software, why not consider rewarding him for it by buying some merchandise or with a small contribution.
