Wakefield 2016 date announced

You read it here first, folks – unless you’re observant!

The Wakefield Show – billed as the North’s Premier RISC OS Show – is set to go ahead again in 2016, with the date now confirmed for what will be the 21st show to be arranged by the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club.

The date was revealed to me a few days ago, but I held back on releasing it until I could obtain confirmation. This first came yesterday, when I was updating the RISC OS Calendar with dates for 2016 and spotted it mentioned on the ‘Events Diary’ page on the WROCC website – so those with keen eyes may have spotted it already – and more officially today when I received a reply to my email seeking confirmation.

That date, which puts the show slightly earlier in April than usual, is Saturday, 16th April, 2016. The venue remains unchanged from the last few years, with the show set to take place in the Cypress and Hawthorne/Oak Suites of:

The Cedar Court Hotel,
Denby Dale Road,
Calder Grove,
Wakefield,
West Yorkshire,
WF4 3QZ.

So, with this show now confirmed, we know the dates of all the main UK shows in 2016: The Southwest Show takes place on 27th February, the Wakefield Show on 16th April, and the London Show on 29th October.

For those looking to fill the gap between Wakefield and London, there is also the Recursion Computer Science Fair, an event with an emphasis on education and covering other platforms, and which takes place in Stratford-upon-Avon on 2nd July, 2016.

And for our European friends, there will probably be a RISC OS eXperience, organised by the Big Ben Club – but I have no information on that as yet.
