Moving up a notch yet again thanks to its increased release cycle, ScummVM 2026.3.0 is now available to download, featuring a number of bug fixes and other improvements to some of the engines it supports, and bringing a host of newly supported games to be played.
ScummVM is a ‘virtual machine’ (that’s the VM part of its name) that was originally developed to allow games written using LucasArts’ Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion – to be played on modern systems. However, that was back in 2001, and in the intervening quarter of a century, it has expanded way beyond that original remit, and now supports many other engines and therefore a wealth of additional games.
It’s maintained by a team of developers, and you can thank Cameron Cawley keeping the port to RISC OS up to date and in line with the others.
The latest version can be downloaded from the ScummVM website, where you’ll also find a more detailed breakdown of the latest updates, and the new games that can be played with it.
