Breaking: New date for the 25th Wakefield Show

25th Wakefield Show now to take place 25 years on from the first, but… on the 24th.

Following the postponement of the next Wakefield Show due to the ongoing crisis with the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 leading to the UK (along with other countries) being put in a state of lockdown, the organisers have now been able to secure a new date.

The show was set to take place on 18th April this year – a couple of weeks time – which would have been 24 years after the first, held on 19th May 1996, making it the 25th Wakefield Show.

The new date, sees the show skip 2020 entirely – something I’m sure many people wish we could all do. This is to hopefully avoid any need to postpone a second time if it was set for later this year, given that the pandemic is likely to be a problem for some while.

However, skipping this year and holding the show next year means that the 25th Wakefield Show will take place 25 years after the first – which somehow makes it feel all the more significant.

The new date – which breaks the pattern ever so slightly – is Saturday, 24th April, 2021. Still, you can’t have everything!

Exhibitor bookings that have already been made will be carried over to the new date at the existing rate – so there will be no additional cost to exhibitors that have already booked. The organisers have said, however, that should any exhibitors wish to do so they are happy to refund any booking fees if anyone wishes to cancel their stand.

So, having scrubbed out 18th April this year from your diaries – it’s time to buy a 2021 diary and note in 24th April. Or you could do so electronically with something like Organizer.

Either way… keep washing those hands, stay safe, and I look forward to seeing you all there!
