New version 1.50 of R-Comp Genealogy software

Announcement from Andrew Rawnsley, 14th April, 2016.

R-Comp is pleased to announce the availability of version 1.50 of its Genealogy software (aka DPG).

This software is a comprehensive genealogy system for mapping out your family tree and building your database of family members. It is a sister product to Genealogy Records, and whilst the latter program focuses on aiding with research, DPG focuses building your family and plotting its tree. In other words, DPG is what most people would think of when envisioning family history software.

The software is extremely extensive, with comprehensive support for family trees and one-name-studies. With advanced GEDCOM support, it provides easy data interchange with other software, and provides a flexible and powerful database engine for your family history.

The latest version gives many more options for plotting your family tree, and manipulating the results. It also offers expanded GEDCOM import/export and has extended support for users migrating from existing RISC OS software…

  1. Significant enhancements to the descendant tree drawing which allow you to manipulate the tree after it has been drawn. Also the tree can now be highlighted to show multiple marriages, marriages between related individuals, and the direct line of ascent for any given individual. Users can now select how many generations will be included, and can access the individual or family records direct from the tree.
  2. GEDCOM file importing and exporting. In particular the improved transfer of data from Ancestor+ is of particular interest. (Note: Ancestor+ holds only a limited range of data in its internal database. It overcomes this limitation by having the capability to hold additional data in the form of text files and picture files etc in a separate folder, associated with each individual or family. This additional data does not get transferred in the GEDCOM file.) DPG can now import these folders in a way that replicates how Ancestor+ holds its data.
  3. There are also a number of bug fixes and under-the-hood improvements. The GEDCOM import/export is now done via menus and there is now access to the various reporting types from the icon bar menu.

This new functionality is available free of charge to existing customers, via !Store updates. You can also purchase the software via !Store for £29.99.

Additionally, we offer a CD edition which contains both the Genealogy software and the companion Genealogy Records system for £50.00.
