CardInfo updated to version 1.02

Kevin Wells has updated another of his little applications that use Wget to provide an interface between the RISC OS desktop and a remote site, allowing users to seek out information without having to wrestle with a web browser. This time it’s the turn of CardInfo with the release of version 1.02.

The program can be used to look up information about your plastic pals. If you feed it the first six digits of a bank card number, it will relay that data to the application programmer interface (API) of BIN (Bank Identification Number) Checker (a service provided by API Layer) and tell you the information returned, which includes handy things like the name of the issuing bank, its country, and so on.

(Note that the application will need an API key – a special code that grants you access to the services provided by API layer. You may have one already if you use another of Kevin’s applications, though you may still need to register with the specific service used for this one.

The changes in version 1.02 of the program include support for interactive help, and the ability to recognise and inform you if there is a problem connecting over the network. Finally, if you begin making changes to the API key but cancel them, when this is next opened the key value that was last saved will be retained.

If you find any of Kevin’s software useful, why not consider rewarding him for it by buying some merchandise or with a small contribution.
