RISC OS in video #01

How about another new trial feature? There is a growing number of videos on YouTube that are either about RISC OS, mention it in some way, or at least may be of interest to its users. They may not be appearing with any great frequency, but more do appear online from time to time. So why not have an occasional post highlighting any such videos?

Well, welcome to the first of those occasional posts!

This feature won’t appear on a regular cycle. Instead, whenever a relevant video causes a bleep on my radar screen, I’ll note it, and every once in a while the next of these posts will appear featuring all the videos that have caught my attention since the last one (along with any recent videos I find with a quick search while writing the post – so please note that I may not have watched all of the videos on this page, though they will be going straight on my ‘watch later’ list).

The types of video you can expect to see here include the obvious recordings of talks at user group meetings and shows, and videos relating to RISC OS software – whether it promotional, or showing how to use it in some way (not enough RISC OS developers do this, but more definitely should; this needs to be encouraged).

Outside of that very small set, videos also appear from time to time that happen to feature, or at least mention RISC OS in some way, perhaps as a small element of a larger subject matter – so if I happen to spot any like this, they will be included. Videos also appear that relate to things that are historically relevant to the platform, such as features about Acorn computers in general.

That list of types isn’t exhaustive – it’s going to be more about whether or not I spot something, and whether or not I think it will be interesting to the RISC OS community.

I won’t spot every video there is, so if you spot something you think is worth including it’s probably worth letting me know, and I may include the video you’ve spotted on the next roundup. Likewise, if you are putting any videos online that may be relevant, please let me know about them!

I only intend to include recent videos – there’s no point mentioning videos that have been available online for a long time, because the chances are that anyone who was going to watch them probably already have done. However, that doesn’t mean I won’t mention older videos. I may do so if I think they are relevant, for example if I’m aware that one of the newer videos that I’ve mentioned relates to an older one.

Having said that, as this is the first such post I’ll at least go as far back as the start of this year, so this time there will be many more than you’re likely to see in later posts, and you’ll have plenty to watch until the next time!

I’m not sure how to order these in general, but for this post I’ll list videos according to the YouTube channel they’re found on, starting with user groups, then shows, then others listed in alphabetical order of their YouTube channel name.
