Show report: Wakefield 2015

Aaaaaand breathe! It has been a massive seven weeks since this year’s Wakefield Show – so if you’ve turned a rather unsightly colour as a result of holding your breath waiting for the RISCOSitory show report, it’s now time to breathe normally again and let your normal colour return!

Announcement from Andrew Rawnsley, 6th May, 2015. We are pleased to announce that we’ll be showing the new ARMX6 computer in Holland, and delivering some Dutch orders while we’re there. The new computer, which provides an all-round level of RISC OS performance/experience far ahead of previous systems, was (in part) created specifically for use in Holland. Thus, it gives us great pleasure to be able to exhibit the computer there.

Wishing the ARM processor a happy 30th birthday

Today, 26th April, 2015 isn’t just the morning after this year’s Wakefield Show; it is also 30 years to the day since the very first ARM1 processor was produced, powered up – and worked! The story of the new processor goes back a little further than 26th April, 1985, and  started when Acorn were looking for a suitable replacement for the MOS 6502 CPU, which at that point they were using in the BBC Microcomputer range.

Get in early, adopt an IGEPv5

A Fistful of Dollars allows you to run The Gauntlet with an early version! Although the new computer from CJE Micro’s is not yet complete, there are apparently (and unsurprisingly) people eager to get their hands on what is expected to be the fastest ever RISC OS computer to date – so Chris Evans says that they will be launching an Early Adopter Scheme at the Wakefield Show on Saturday, 25th April, 2015.

Wakefield 2015 approaches!

Precisely five days from now, it’ll all be over! The 2015 Wakefield Show – the 20th show organised by the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club – takes place this coming Saturday, 25th April, with the doors open to the public from 10:30am, and shut again at 16:30pm – so as a discerning RISC OS user, the place you’ll want to be on Saturday is:
