Snippets – 16th October, 2016

Out of the chaos comes… another round up of (mostly late) news! With yet another protracted busy period here in the RISCOSitory/Soft Rock Software bunker, it’s time to round up some news that has either been previously missed, or held back until more time was available.

London show set to be the biggest yet

Breathe in – likely to be standing room only! This year’s London Show – which takes place in five weeks time, on 24th October, 2015 – is shaping up to be the biggest yet, with an impressive 27 exhibitors currently listed on the show website. Those exhibitors include plenty of familiar faces at RISC OS shows, and quite a number who are new – be that to shows in general, or just this one. And to cap all that, it seems that some of the regular attendees have asked for…

Show report: Wakefield 2015

Aaaaaand breathe! It has been a massive seven weeks since this year’s Wakefield Show – so if you’ve turned a rather unsightly colour as a result of holding your breath waiting for the RISCOSitory show report, it’s now time to breathe normally again and let your normal colour return!

RiscOSM crosses borders at Wakefield

Map app gap snap! Sine Nomine Software, who should be on stand 18 in the Cypress Suite of Saturday’s Wakefield Show according to the provisional floorplan, will be bringing a new version of RiscOSM along to the event. The software, which uses data sourced and converted from OpenStreetMap, brings comprehensive mapping facilities to RISC OS, and was first launched at last year’s show.

Show report: Southwest 2015

‘Ello, John, got a new motor computer? The most rubber-dated show in the RISC OS calendar, the RISC OS Southwest Show, took place this year just one week ago, on 21st February, 2015 – and it was a busy show, well attended by both visitors and exhibitors. Sine Nomine Software at the Southwest Show for the first time

Finding the Webbington Hotel – a true test of Sine Nomine’s RiscOSM! This year’s Southwest Show, which takes place on Saturday, 21st February, will see Sine Nomine Software making their debut appearance at this event – regular exhibitors at other shows, Durham-based couple Matthew and Hilary Phillips have never before attended this one.

Southwest Show gains three more exhibitors

Previously only provisional, presence now, er, confirmed. With the Southwest Show fast approaching – it’s set to take place on the 21st February, just two weeks from today – organisers R-Comp Interactive and Orpheus Internet have been able to confirm the attendance of three more exhibitors:

Piccolo systems removes customer downloads

#VATMESS: New EU VAT regulations, 1 – Sanity and good sense, 0 Ben Avison, of Piccolo Systems and RISC OS Open Ltd, has announced the removal of the ability for customers to download software purchased via the Piccolo Systems website. The reason for withdrawing the downloads is due to a change in the way value added tax is handled in the EU for the sale of digital goods and services that are delivered online via an automated process.
