Just don’t mention the acronym in polite company, mkay? A newly registered domain and associated website has popped up, apparently through which its owner – Andy Marks – intends to sell of his collection of Acorn and RISC OS Spares and Extras. (I did say not to mention the acronym in polite company, didn’t I? Oh, yes, I did.)

ARMX6 in high demand, plan ahead for Wakefield, Big Ben eXperience
R-Comp reports that demand for the ARMSX ARMX6 computers remains high, with there still being a backlog of orders to fulfill – something which, while it’s unfortunate for those who are still waiting, is surely a good sign, as well as being something for which R-Comp’s Andrew Rawnsley says they are very grateful.

And a reminder: Vote now and be counted! The 2014 RISC OS Awards poll has been underway since the beginning of December, and the deadline for votes was to be the end of January – in one week’s time. However, that has now been extended, and the new deadline for votes is 7th February, 2014. If you haven’t voted yet, you now how two weeks in which to make your decision and cast your vote.
RISC OS Awards 2014 – a reminder, and a memory jog
Remembering it for you, so you don’t have to. With the form for the 2014 RISC OS Awards poll now having been online for more than half of the intended period – it was opened for votes at the start of December, and will be closed in just three weeks at the end of January – it’s disappointing to note that the number of votes is worryingly low, at just 50 so far. And glancing at those votes, quite a number of people have only cast votes in a small…
piLEARN: Reuniting education and RISC OS
Martin Hansen of The MathMagical Software Company has unveiled a new website, called piLEARN. The main thinking behind the site is for it to be a starting point for those people who wish to try out RISC OS on the ARM based Raspberry Pi computer, due to be launched in the next few weeks. He also hopes to have additional material and resources available from the site, with education being an obvious focus since the Raspberry Pi has been intended from the the outset to as a device on which…

This page contains details of upcoming RISC OS shows, and any other events that while not specifically to do with RISC OS may be of interest to users of the platform, for example because someone from the RISC OS world is exhibiting. Over time, I would like to expand this page to include historical show dates – and should I do so, link to online reports and other information. For now, however, it just covers those events that are known or anticipated for 2023/2024. User group details were previously also…
Is there any scope for starting a new Bristol RISC OS user group?
Littered around the country, and possibly overseas as well, there are a number of RISC OS user groups, who meet up on a regular basis, discuss RISC OS issues and have developers and other guests pop in to demonstrate their latest software or give a talk on some aspect of what they do or have done. There used to be such a group for Bristol and the surrounding areas, which I never bothered to join (so in a way I’m partly responsible for what happened next). That group closed down…
