As the countdown until this year’s Southwest Show ticks over into the final twenty four hours – the show takes place tomorrow, Saturday, 22nd February at the Arnos Manor Hotel in Bristol – a few press releases and announcements have found their way to me. I can’t spend any real time crafting individual articles this time around, so instead here’s a round-up of show-related news that has come my way since I posted a show preview.

While we all love RISC OS and its user interface, we all know that it is not an operating system without problems and deficiencies, because it simply hasn’t kept up with the main platforms in a number of areas – and one such area is access to online video streaming services such as YouTube. However, all is not lost – if you have a suitable computer, there is a software solution for viewing YouTube videos on RISC OS.

Show report: London 2019
The 2019 RISC OS London Show took place on Saturday, 26th October – and once again (speaking as an exhibitor) seemed to be a buzzing, exciting show with plenty for the visitor to see and experience. It was the 11th London Show, with the first having taken place on 3rd October, 2009, and there was a good mix of exhibitors including large well known RISC OS names and smaller home-based operators. Show report: Wakefield 2019
Six months on from the show itself… that’s almost as long as the Long Gap between the Wakefield and London shows! Ahem. The place to be for discerning RISC OS users (and retro Acorn enthusiasts) on Saturday, 27th April, was Wakefield – more specifically, the Cedar Court Hotel in Calder Grove – because that was where the annual Wakefield Acorn and RISC OS Computer Show took place.

The next meeting of the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club will cover a number of different topics. To kick things off, Terry Marsh will be demonstrating Pi3D, using Python. This will be followed by Chris Hughes showing how Impact can be used to create databases of photos, stamp collections, etc. Chris also hopes then to be able to show a 20-minute demonstration of Jan Vibe’s graphics programs, updated for modern kit by Richard Ashbery. Drag ‘N Drop completes its seventh volume
On-off-on-off-under-new-management PDF magazine Drag ‘N Drop has completed its seventh volume with the latest issue, which is now available to buy. Volume 7 issue 4, also known to its friends as 7i4, is the ‘Summer’ issue, was published last week by editor Christopher Dewhurst, who took over from original editor Paul Stewart back in 2012. According to Chris, this issue has arrived a touch later than usual due to it being the holiday season. In other words, he’s been off on his jollies.

These are not the page numbers you are looking for! The latest edition of on-off-on-off-under-new-management PDF magazine Drag ‘N Drop is now available to buy, either from its website or via !Store. This issue – number three of its seventh volume – is 36 pages long excluding the front cover1, and as usual includes a mix of regular features and one off articles.

The latest issue of on-off-on-off-under-new-management PDF magazine Drag ‘N Drop is now available to buy. The quarterly-ish publication is mainly targeted at users of RISC OS on the Raspberry Pi, but editor Christopher Dewhurst says content will be of interest to all RISC OS 5 users.
