Escape from the Arcade now available from !Store

The latest addition to the AMCOG Games catalogue was initially launched at the recent Wakefield Show, and it is now available to buy from !Store for just £10.99. That game is Escape from the Arcade – something you wouldn’t have to do if you didn’t get trapped inside an arcade machine, and that happened because you chose to play a faulty machine. Oops. Damn those dimensional faults – and damn your foolish ignorance of the warning sign!

RISC OS Awards: Deadline, and an overdue look at the alternative suggestions

The annual RISC OS Awards poll has now been open for just over two months, and is due to be closed fairly soon. Shortly after the poll began I moved home and didn’t properly set up any computers for quite some time, so the planned occasional review and post of the ‘alternative’ entries didn’t happen, other than one quiet afternoon when I scanned through the votes that had been received at that point and tweeted those alternative entries.

AMCOG’s Stunt Drivers now available

AMCOG Games launched a new title at the London Show two weeks ago, and it is now available to purchase via !Store, priced at just £9.99. A top-down racing game, Stunt Drivers pits you as a driver in a three-lap race against a number of computer controlled cars around a track on which there are obstacles to overcome – hazards such as oil spills, and ramps for you to use to jump over other objects.

Zombie apocalypse unleashed by AMCOG Games

They’re coming to get you Barbara <um… insert name here>! “You have been unable to contact air-traffic control, and after running out of fuel crash landed on an abandoned military base. Strange beings that reek of dead and rotting flesh attacked you and you became separated from your plane.” Well, that can’t be good, but that’s how the blurb for AMCOG Games‘ latest release begins. That release is Island of the Undead, a brand new game from Tony Bartram that puts you in a fight for your life – against…

The clock is counting down for Windows 7-based RISCubes

The problem with needing both a Windows or MacOS computer system as well as a RISC OS one is space – two computers take up more valuable space on your desk than just one. A good emulation of one that works on the other is a neat solution to this, because it means you can have just the one computer, but reap the benefits of both platforms. This has always been where VirtualRiscPC has shown its worth, offering a very strong and just about seamless emulation of the RiscPC computer.…

AMCOG Development Kit updated

Hot on the heels of a new release of Cyborg, which was written using the AMCOG Development Kit, AMCOG Games has released an updated version of the Kit itself, with version 1.03 having been made available yesterday. The aim of the package is to make it simpler for people to get into writing games for RISC OS, using BBC BASIC. As such, the central core of the kit is a library of BASIC functions that cover sprite plotting, error handling, screen transitions, MP3 playback, and much more. There is also…

Cyborg gets new implants, making it v2.20

Thankfully, though, that doesn’t turn it into a dodgy 1993 sequel1 Launched earlier this year at Wakefield by AMCOG Games, Cyborg is an arcade action game by Tony Bartram in which you take on the role of a cyborg treasure hunter, seeking out ancient treasure in Castle CyberDroid – and Tony has just pushed out Cyborg Second Edition, an update to the game that brings it up to version 2.20.
