In the UK, the last of the physical RISC OS shows1 before the Long Gaptm until the next is Wakefield, which took place last month, but if you are able to get to The Netherlands, there’s one still to go – the annual RISC OS eXperience, hosted by the Big Ben Club in Koog aan de Zaan, and which takes place tomorrow.
The RISC OS North show now only two (count ’em) days away, and another announcement has bounced into the RISCOSitory inbox from RISCOSbits:
With this year’s London Show drawing ever nearer – the doors will be open to the public in just two days on 25th October, at the Harrow District Masonic Centre – another announcement has landed in the RISCOSitory bunker, and, amongst other interesting news, this one includes something we’ve all been eagerly awaiting for a very long time: a public release of web browser Iris from RISC OS Developments. As noted last week, we now have the dates for all of the main RISC OS shows that are planned for 2025 – and one of those is a new event, RISC OS North, to replace both the Southwest Show and Wakefield.
With Wi-Fi and web browser! Some very welcome news from RISC OS Developments, just a couple of days before London 2024 is the release of RISC OS Direct 5.31 – which includes a new internet stack and Wi-Fi facilities, as well as Iris, the web browser the company has been developing for quite some time.
Unnoticed here in the bunker, the Big Ben Club will be holding their RISC OS eXperience event on Saturday, 14th May – less than a week from now – and both RISC OS Developments Ltd (ROD) and R-Comp will be represented on the day, both by Andrew Rawnsley.
They’ll all be discussed at the next Wakefield meeting! Offering a range of topics, rather than just one speaker talking on one topic, the next Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club (WROCC) meeting has been designated a Potpourri evening, with spots from Cliff Hatch, Doug Webb (infiltrating the Club from the Midlands), and Ruth Gunstone.
