The problem with needing both a Windows or MacOS computer system as well as a RISC OS one is space – two computers take up more valuable space on your desk than just one. A good emulation of one that works on the other is a neat solution to this, because it means you can have just the one computer, but reap the benefits of both platforms.

This has always been where VirtualRiscPC has shown its worth, offering a very strong and just about seamless emulation of the RiscPC computer. R-Comp have long since recognised this, and provide Windows computers with the emulator installed and ready to use as standard, in the form of their RISCube range. Continue reading »

Labelled as ‘Coming Soon?’ on the RISCOSbits website is a product called GeminX – the page for which sports a large image showing a RISC OS desktop, with a window open featuring what appears to be Windows 10. Given that no current RISC OS solution would be capable of emulating a system fast enough to sensibly run Windows 10, it’s very likely this is either neatly packaged (as in easy for the average user) software involving VNC, or perhaps a hybrid hardware/software solution.

Either way, further down the page the words “Preview at the RISC OS London Show” can be seen – so perhaps a good profit could be made on the Soft Rock Software/RISCOSitory stand selling baseball bats.
