Users in the Southampton area will have the opportunity to meet up on the evening of Tuesday, 16th January, in their usual venue, the Sports Centre of Itchen College. The group’s normal meeting day is the second Tuesday of the month, which should have meant the 9th – but a week’s delay was necessary because of the College opening times over the holiday period.

Other than the off-schedule date, the usual arrangements apply: Continue reading »

Mark Tuesday, 12th December in your diaries if you are a RISC OS user within shouting distance of Southampton, because that’s when the next meeting takes place for users in that area. Those who attend the meeting are welcome to bring along any hardware or software to discuss with the group. There will be at least one small network of RISC OS computers, and an internet connection – and it’s a stroke of luck that this is December, the same month in which Christmas falls, because there will be a demonstration of at least one piece of festive hardware!

The group meets in the Sports Centre of Itchen College, Deacon Road, Southampton – in the College Centre, the open area with tables and chairs adjacent to the Sports Centre Reception. The car park is accessed from Deacon Road, opposite Whites Road. The meeting takes place from 7:00pm until 9:00pm, and there is no admission fee.

Last month it was usual time, different place – will both differ next month?

The Southampton RISC OS Users Group will be holding it’s next meeting on Wednesday (oops…) Tuesday, 8th August – in the usual venue, but not at the usual time.

The group normally meets in the Itchen College Sports Centre (unless pesky student exhibitions dictate otherwise) at around 7:00pm, but this month the meeting is scheduled for 6:45pm – and while the meetings usually run until 9:00pm, this one is scheduled to end at 8:30pm. Continue reading »

Venue a highly guarded secret, revealed only to those who know the code1

The Southampton RISC OS Users Group normally meets in the Itchen College Sports Centre, but there is a change of venue for their July meeting – to a top secret location, the actual address of which is a highly guarded secret1.

Why is this? Perhaps it’s because someone from Southampton attended ROUGOL‘s June meeting, the subject of which was Cryptography and Security, and developed an unhealthy sense of paranoia as a result – after all, they really ARE out to get you – and has since bought a lifetime’s supply of tinfoil hats, etc. Continue reading »

The meeting scheduled and announced for the Southampton RISC OS User Group – which would otherwise have taken place Tuesday, 9th May (tomorrow night) – has been cancelled.

It appears that the venue has made a double-booking, and the room used by the group is therefore unavailable – so any RISC OS users who make the mistake of turning up will be joining an event concerning something else entirely.

Organiser Andrew Conroy says he will try to arrange an alternative date, and let everyone know as soon as possible.
