Sine Nomine Software have released a new version of Impact, their relational database package.

Originally developed by John Skingley of Circle Software, and taken over in 2003 by Matthew and Hilary Phillips of Sine Nomine, Impact is a relational database for RISC OS, which is easy to use and provides facilities to create, edit, import and edit information, and features the ability to merge data with Impression or Ovation Pro documents, for mail shots, reports, invoicing, and so on. The application also features a powerful scripting language, which allows much more flexibility in what the user can achieve with the data stored in the system. Continue reading »

ImpEmail becomes a separate product

Mail-merging email software spreads its wings.

Back in April, at this years Wakefield Show, Sine Nomine Software introduced ImpEmail. a tool that worked alonside (and was therefore supplied with) their relational database, Impact, to create mail-merged emails.

However, a new version of the module has just been announced, and this version marks the availability of ImpEmail as a separate product.

Wrangler 1.06 released

One game forward, two games back.

A new version, 1.06, of the general mathematical puzzle application, Wrangler, is now available from Sine Nomine Software.

The new version sees the removal of two of the puzzle games that were previously included in the application, Suko and Sujiko, and the addition of a new one, TetraCross.

The removal of the Suko and Sujiko puzzles has come about as a result of a complaint to Sine Nomine Software of trademark infringement – the two puzzles, both invented by Jai Gomer of Kobayaashi Studios, are registered trademarks of Puzzler Media Limited. Continue reading »

DrawPrint version 1.40 released

Version 1.40 of Sine Nomine’s DrawPrint is now available to download.

DrawPrint is an application that provides more control when printing Drawfiles, sprites or JPEGs, allowing them to be printed over multiple pages, allowing the user to select a scale, margins, overlaps, and so on. It also allows individual pages to be exported as Drawfiles for use in other applications.

The update to version 1.40 deals with problems identified with the options to print “All text in black” and at the “Original size & position”. Continue reading »

Impulse module updated again

Release of previous version a little too impulsive!

When Sine Nomine released a new version (0.21) of the Impulse module recently, the intention was to deal with some issues whereby the module could interfere with messages sent by a task to itself – issues that came to light during the development of ImpEmail, the new mail merging email software supplied with the Impact database. The module, which was originally developed by Computer Concepts (now Xara), provides a mechanism for inter-application communications, command execution and data transfer.

However, it soon emerged that the updated module actually prevented Impression from working properly. Continue reading »

Murphy’s law alive and well in the world of RISC OS software.

A new version of DrawPrint is available from Sine Nomine Software, released to deal with a problem discovered in the previous version very soon after its release.

DrawPrint is an application that provides more control when printing Drawfiles, sprites or JPEGs, allowing them to be printed over multiple pages, allowing the user to select a scale, margins, overlaps, and so on. It also allows individual pages to be exported as Drawfiles for use in other applications.

Version 1.39 addresses a bug found in the ‘Preview’ window, whereby some buttons were disappearing at the bottom if the paper was in landscape mode, or simply not tall enough for the buttons to appear.

 

More puzzles in Wrangler and SuperDoku

Hot on the heels of Wakefield, Sine Nomine Software have announced new versions of their popular puzzle games, Wrangler and SuperDoku, adding new puzzle types to both.

SuperDoku is an advanced Sudoku generating and solving application, which can handle more than just standard Sudoku puzzles – it can cope with puzzles of different sizes and shapes, jigsaw blocks, extra blocks, and much more. This update brings it up to version 1.27, which adds Diamond puzzles; Sudoku puzzles with extra blocks, forming an overall diamond shape. Continue reading »

Impulse module updated after 10 years

Apps can’t help acting on impulse.

The Impulse module was originally released by Computer Concepts (now Xara), and was in part the result of the company’s plans to develop a replacement for Arthur, the operating system used on the Archimedes computers before Acorn brought out RISC OS 2. The module provides a mechanism for inter-application communications, command execution and data transfer, and is used by databases such as Impact and Powerbase in conjunction with Impression, ImpEmail and Ovation Pro to perform mail-merges and produce reports.

Until now, the most recent update to the module was in December 2002, when version 0.20 was released as the first 32-bit version – but thanks to the efforts of Sine Nomine, version 0.21 is now available. Continue reading »

DrawPrint 1.38 available

Free printing utility even better value for money than before.

DrawPrint is an application that allows the user to print a Drawfile (or Sprite or JPEG) over several pages, with full control of the scale. Margins can be set, with the option of the printed image overlapping from one page to the next, or have page breaks inserted more intelligent way.

Free to download and use, the software was originally developed to provide a way to print from NetSurf on the IYONIX pc, but it can also be useful for printing many other things – including Excel files via ViewXLS. Continue reading »
