If you need more detailed information about a small selection of Wakefield Show exhibitors and their wares than is provided in Mark Stephens’ show report and pictures on the Icon Bar website, but can’t wait for the usual RISCOSitory show report and videos, Ruth Gunstone has stepped in to fill in the gap. Ruth is a member of the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club and, along with Peter Richmond, looks after the show theatre – and has now uploaded her recordings of the various talks to Youtube:
And you thought I was slow putting my videos online!
Ruth Gunstone is one of the duo that handles the theatre at the annual Wakefield Show, along with Peter Richmond, and she has also made video recordings of the talks for the last couple of years. Her recordings from last year’s show are now online for your viewing pleasure – just in time for this year’s show! The videos in question are:
- Steve Revill, RISC OS Open Ltd
- Andrew Rawnsley, R-Comp
- Chris Evans, CJE Micro’s and 4D
- Mystery announcement (aka Richard Brown, RISC OS Developments Ltd)
- Matthew Phillips, Sine Nomine
Visitors to Saturday’s London Show will be able to see (and buy or upgrade to) a new version of RiscOSM, the map viewing software from Sine Nomine. The headline feature of the new version is the ability to trace out routes on the map – the software can now follow map features when doing so, making it easy to plan an accurate route. See it in action on Sine Nomine’s stand, or in the show theatre during Matthew Phillips’ presentation. Also check out Chris Hall’s GPS software, relaying location data to RiscOSM, which will be on display on the Soft Rock Software stand.
The latest map data will also be available to purchase, on both USB sticks and SD cards – and anyone bringing back an SD card (including the SD adapter for micro-SD cards) previously purchased from Sine Nomine will be entitled to a discount.
News nuggets for you to chew on.
The last few months have been very busy with stuff unrelated to RISC OS, so unposted news – particularly smaller items – has built up again. It’s time, therefore, for a snippets post to round up these smaller items.
Map app gap snap!
Finding the Webbington Hotel – a true test of Sine Nomine’s RiscOSM!
This year’s Southwest Show, which takes place on Saturday, 21st February, will see Sine Nomine Software making their debut appearance at this event – regular exhibitors at other shows, Durham-based couple Matthew and Hilary Phillips have never before attended this one.
