Southampton user group meeting – 10th March

BASIC heating at March meeting! Dave Higton, has posted a reminder about an upcoming meeting of the Southampton RISC OS Users Group, aka SROUG. Following February’s shift from its usual second Tuesday of the month, which was due to a clash with a parents’ evening, the March meeting of the Southampton group is back on schedule, and will therefore take place on Tuesday, 10th March, at the usual time of 7pm, running until 9pm.

Raspberry Pi 2 at February Southampton meeting

The heat is on… hopefully. The Southampton RISC OS User Group’s next meeting is taking place a day later than usual – the meetings are usually on the second Tuesday of each month but February’s is instead set for Wednesday, 11th February. Meeting organiser Dave Higton changed the date for February a couple of weeks ago, to avoid clashing with a Parents’ Evening at the group’s usual meeting place.

A double JDServer whoopsie from Mr USB

No, Dave, this is unlikely qualify you for a Broken Cog award when it’s time to set up the 2015 RISC OS Awards. It’s just not poor enough! Dave Higton recently updated the Help file of JDServer with instructions for using the server from Windows 7 and Mac OS. However, he subsequently realised that he’d messed up his version control, and it’s possible that when people updated they may have reverted to using version 0.07 of the software as a result.

Jim Lesurf’s USB audio apps updated

I bet you thought I hadn’t noticed? Well I hadn’t, until now. Jim Lesurf announced updates to some of his USB audio applications recently – which somehow slipped by RISCOSitory unnoticed until today. The first of these, announced on 29th May, was an update to USBPlayer, an application that allows suitable wave (.WAV, &FB1) files to be played via USB Audio devices that follow the USB Audio standards.
