“Our next meeting is on Monday. Get stuffed!” says ROUGOL*

*They did not actually say this. It’s the group’s informal Christmas meal!

The December meeting for the RISC OS User Group of London takes place on Monday, 18th December – a date that necessitates a couple of slight changes to the normal monthly proceedings.

The meeting takes place in the usual venue – the Blue-Eyed Maid – but being a so close to Christmas, there is high seasonal demand for space in the restaurant, so the expectation is to meet in the bar downstairs for a more informal meeting.

There’s a clue to the other change in those last two words – being an informal meeting, there is no set topic or speaker. Instead, it’s an opportunity to discuss the last twelve months of RISC OS shenanigans, along with what people hope (or simply expect) to happen during 2018, all over a drink and a meal.

The meeting kicks off at the usual time of 7:45pm at:

The Blue-Eyed Maid,
173 Borough High Street,
London,
SE1 1HR.

Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting, to which there is no admittance fee, and the venue serves a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and both hot and cold food.

Located between London Bridge and Borough tube stations, the Blue-Eyed Maid is readily accessible by public transport. It is a five minute walk away from either station, through well lit streets covered by CCTV. There is also ample cycle parking nearby, also covered by CCTV.

For drivers, Congestion Charging ends at 6:00pm, well before the meeting starts. You do need to take into account that this is central London, however, so make sure you allow for that in terms of time – and you might want to bring along some extra patience. Watch out for parking restrictions – avoid double red lines at all times, and it’s best not to park on single red or yellow lines until after 7:00pm.

For any help reaching the venue, or for any other information, ROUGOL can be contacted by telephone on 07970 211 629, or via Twitter or by email.

And if Monday is a little short notice, then it might be worth putting another date in your diary – it’s a little further off, so you should have time to make the necessary arrangements. The group organises the London Show, and the 2018 date has been set for 27th October at the usual venue: the St Giles Hotel, Feltham.
